Butters is a privately held, real estate firm, engaged in the construction, development, investment, management and leasing of industrial, office, and retail properties.

The Butters organization is currently the number one developer of industrial properties in Broward County, and the fifth most active developer in all of South Florida, with approximately 1,500,000 square feet under construction, in permitting, or in design. Butters also ranks as the fifth most active commercial developer in the State of Florida, according to the 2005 Florida Trend Magazine. The Butters family has been headquartered in South Florida for the past 20 years.

In 2002, the firm won the “Diamond Award” from the South Florida Business Journal and in 1999 and 2003, Butters won “Developer of the Year” Award from the National Association of Office and Industrial Properties, South Florida Chapter.

Approximately half of the projects by Butters are speculative development, while the other half are build-to-suits (for lease or sale). Butters’ current portfolio of owned and managed properties total approximately 3 million square feet, which is comprised of office, industrial, and retail facilities. Properties owned range from West Palm Beach to Miami, Florida. Butters recently expanded out of the South Florida market and has projects under development in the Fort Myers area as well as another in Port St. Lucie. The Butters organization is a full service company with in house construction, development, leasing and management, and brokerage personnel.

All construction is performed in house with Butters superintendents and project managers. Current annual construction volume is approximately $50,000,000. Technology is an important aspect to the Butters Group. Butters uses the most current version of Yardi Software and M.R.I. for property management and Timberline Software for construction management.

The Principles:

Malcolm Butters (45) - Malcolm has been active in South Florida Real Estate for over 20 years. He has a Masters Degree in Real Estate from Florida International University, and has previously worked in the real estate investment division of Travelers Insurance.

Mark Butters (42) - Mark heads up the construction division of the firm. He has a Degree in Construction Management from Florida International University, State of Florida General Contracting & Building Contracting Licenses.
